Booking and your first visit
Do I need an appointment?
Yes — we see patients by appointment only. You can book at any hour through our web booking form or our official LINE account.
Can I book for today?
We are sorry, but not on the day. Please book at least 24 hours ahead through the web form or our official LINE account.
Can I come just to talk it through?
Of course. Coming in for a consultation alone is very welcome, and there is no obligation to book anything.
Can I be treated on the day of my consultation?
Most treatments can be done the same day. Occasionally, depending on what the examination shows, we will ask you to come back.
Is there a consultation fee?
It depends on the treatment. Have a look at our fees page, or just ask us.
Will I see a doctor?
Yes. The doctor listens to what is bothering you and puts together a plan for you specifically.
When do I fill in the medical questionnaire?
We send you the online form once your booking is confirmed. Filling it in beforehand means less waiting when you arrive.
What should I bring?
Photo identification.
How can I pay?
Cash, all major credit cards, and PayPay.
Can I get a receipt?
Yes, we can issue one.
Do you see male patients?
Yes. The clinic is open to everyone.
Can under-18s be treated?
Patients under 18 need a parent or guardian present, or written consent from one.
Is there parking?
Not our own, no. There are pay car parks nearby.
What happens if I cancel?
A fee may apply for no-shows and last-minute cancellations. Our cancellation policy has the details.
Tattoo and permanent makeup removal
Will my tattoo disappear in one session?
In most cases several sessions are needed. How many depends on the colour, type of ink, depth, density and size of the tattoo.
How many sessions will it take?
This varies a great deal from person to person, so we cannot give a single number for everyone. We examine your tattoo at the consultation and explain what to expect.
Can you remove coloured tattoos?
Yes. PicoWay can use several wavelengths, so it can treat red, orange, blue, green and other colours as well as black. However, different inks and colours respond to the laser differently.
Do coloured tattoos cost more?
Yes. Coloured tattoos are charged at the standard price plus 10%.
Is numbing cream charged separately?
No. Numbing cream is included in the treatment fee.
Does it hurt?
You may feel something like the snap of a rubber band, or a sensation of heat. We apply numbing cream before treating the area.
Can you treat a small tattoo?
Yes. We treat small single-motif tattoos from the size of a ¥500 coin or smaller.
Can you treat a large tattoo?
Yes. We also treat large tattoos covering the area of several business cards. Depending on the size, the area may be treated over several sessions.
Can you remove just part of a tattoo?
Yes. If you would like to lighten only some lettering or part of a design rather than the whole tattoo, please talk to us.
Can you lighten a tattoo before a cover-up?
Yes. Rather than complete removal, we can also treat a tattoo to lighten it before you have a new design done.
Can I take a bath after treatment?
It depends on the condition of the treated area. We check your skin after treatment and advise you on bathing, exercise and so on for the day of treatment.
Might my tattoo not disappear completely?
Yes, it might. Different inks respond differently to the laser depending on their type, depth, colour and amount, so some pigment may remain. Darkening or loss of pigment and scarring may also remain.
Will permanent makeup disappear in one session?
It may fade considerably after one session, but not all permanent makeup can be removed in a single session. The number of sessions needed depends on the type, depth and amount of pigment and how many times it was applied.
Can you remove just the tails of my brows?
Yes. As well as both brows in full, we can remove one brow or just part of one.
Can you lighten my permanent makeup before new work is done?
Yes. We can also treat it to lighten your old design and make it easier to have new permanent makeup applied.
Can you treat permanent makeup that has turned red?
We check the condition of the pigment before deciding on treatment. PicoWay can switch between several wavelengths, including 532 nm.
Do you treat black permanent makeup?
Yes. For black and similar pigments we use wavelengths such as 1064 nm, according to the condition of the pigment.
Can the colour change?
Yes. Where several pigments have been mixed, some may respond first, making another colour more noticeable. Depending on its ingredients, pigment may also darken after laser treatment.
I don’t know what pigment was used for my permanent makeup.
You can still talk to us even if you do not know. We check the current colour and the condition of your skin and explain the treatment.
Can permanent makeup be removed completely?
The laser aims to lighten it gradually, but complete removal is not guaranteed. Some pigment may remain depending on its type and depth.
Pigmentation (spot removal)
Will the spot come off in one session?
Many age spots (solar lentigines) can be expected to improve after one session, but depending on how dark or deep they are, further treatment may be needed.
Does it hurt?
It feels like the snap of a rubber band. Most people can have it without numbing cream.
Can I wear make-up on the day?
Make-up is fine from the next day, avoiding the treated area. On the day, moisturise well and protect your skin from UV.
Can you remove melasma?
Treating melasma with Pico Spot can make it worse, so we examine your skin and suggest a suitable treatment.
Pico toning
Will one session make a difference?
Some people notice changes such as brighter skin after one session, but pico toning is a treatment that aims for gradual improvement over several sessions.
Can it be used for melasma?
It is a treatment that is sometimes used for melasma. However, melasma can get worse with stimulation, so the doctor checks its condition and decides whether the treatment is suitable and how to apply it.
I want to remove a spot in one session.
For a dark spot with a clear outline, Pico Spot may be more suitable than pico toning. We check the type of spot at the consultation and advise you.
Does it hurt?
You may feel a light prickling sensation, but most people can have it without numbing cream.
Can I wear make-up afterwards?
If your skin is fine, you can wear make-up straight after treatment. Please avoid rubbing hard.
How often should I have it?
The usual interval for pico toning is once every 2–4 weeks (about once a month). Sessions must be at least 2 weeks apart.
Botox
When does Botox start to work?
It does not work immediately. Generally you begin to notice the effect gradually after a few days, and it settles over about 1–2 weeks. How the effect appears varies from person to person.
How long does it last?
Generally about 3–4 months. This varies with the area treated, the amount injected and the strength of the muscles.
Does it hurt?
A fine needle is used, so you will feel a small prick when injected. Sensitivity to pain varies, but the treatment is over quickly.
How long does the treatment take?
It depends on the areas and number of injection points, but the treatment itself takes about 5–15 minutes.
Is there any downtime?
There is very little downtime. Redness, swelling, pain or bruising may occur at the injection sites, but most of this is temporary.
Can I wear make-up straight afterwards?
In general, yes. However, please avoid rubbing or pressing hard on the injection sites.
Can I take a bath or exercise on the day?
Showers are fine, but on the day of treatment please avoid anything that greatly increases blood flow, such as long baths, saunas, strenuous exercise or heavy drinking.
Will Botox make my expressions look unnatural?
Depending on the area and amount injected, your expressions may feel less mobile. At the consultation we check how your muscles move and what you would like, and adjust the injection sites and amount accordingly.
Which areas can be treated?
We can treat many areas, including the forehead, frown lines, crow’s feet, the bridge of the nose and bunny lines, chin, corners of the mouth, gummy smile and jaw (masseter). It is also sometimes used for the shoulders, calves and excessive sweating.
Is it all right to have Botox many times?
Treatment can be repeated with an appropriate interval between sessions. We advise on the timing of your next session after checking the effect of the last one and the condition of your muscles.
It’s my first time — I don’t know how many units I need.
The number of units depends on the area, the strength of the muscles and the result you would like. We suggest an amount at the consultation after checking how your muscles actually move, so you do not need to decide this yourself.
Can injections be split across several areas?
Yes. We can inject several areas according to your wishes and needs. Please tell us at the consultation which areas matter most to you.
Can I have it while pregnant or breastfeeding?
We do not give botulinum toxin treatment to anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are hoping to become pregnant, please also tell the doctor beforehand.
Are there side effects?
Redness, swelling, bruising, pain or headache may occur. Depending on the injection site, temporary difficulty making certain expressions, drooping of the eyelids or brows, or unevenness between sides may also occur. If you have any concerns about symptoms, please consult the doctor.
Dermal filler (hyaluronic acid)
What is hyaluronic acid filler?
A treatment in which a hyaluronic acid product is injected into or under the skin to add volume or refine contours. It is injected according to your aims and the area, such as the under-eye area (tear trough fullness) or the lips.
Will I see the result straight away?
The change in volume can be seen immediately after injection. However, swelling or puffiness may occur straight afterwards, so the final result is assessed once the swelling has settled.
How long does it last?
It depends on the product, the area, the amount injected and your constitution. Hyaluronic acid is gradually absorbed by the body, so the effect is not permanent.
How many cc do I need?
The amount depends on the area, its current condition and the result you would like. If you prefer a natural change, we can start with a small amount. The doctor checks your condition at the consultation and suggests an amount.
Does it hurt?
You may feel a small prick when injected and a sense of pressure during injection. The degree of pain varies from person to person.
Is there any downtime?
Redness, swelling, puffiness, pain or bruising may occur at the injection sites. Most of this improves with time, but the symptoms and how long they last vary from person to person.
Can I wear make-up straight afterwards?
In general, yes, but please avoid rubbing or pressing hard on the injected areas. Depending on the needle marks and the condition of your skin, the doctor may give you separate advice.
Can I take a bath or exercise on the day?
On the day of treatment please avoid anything that greatly increases blood flow, such as long baths, saunas, strenuous exercise or heavy drinking. These can make swelling or bruising worse.
Will filler look unnatural?
The result depends greatly on the amount and where it is injected. We check the balance of your whole face and your wishes, and adjust the amount and placement aiming for a natural result.
Can hyaluronic acid be dissolved?
If necessary, hyaluronic acid products can be broken down with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. However, what can be done depends on the product and the condition, so an examination by the doctor is needed.
Can I have it on the same day as Botox?
Depending on the areas and treatments, both may be possible on the same day. If you would like this, please ask at the consultation.
Which areas can be injected?
At our clinic we inject the under-eye area (tear trough fullness) and the lips. The suitable product and amount differ by area.
Can I have it while pregnant or breastfeeding?
We do not give hyaluronic acid injections to anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. If there is any chance you may be pregnant, please tell the doctor beforehand.
Are there side effects or risks?
Redness, swelling, puffiness, pain, bruising, unevenness between sides or lumps may occur. Very rarely, hyaluronic acid entering or compressing a blood vessel can disrupt blood flow. If you experience severe pain, a change in skin colour or any problem with your vision, contact a medical facility immediately.
Can I ask for advice if it’s my first time?
Of course. Even if you are not sure where to have it or how many cc you need, we will make suggestions at the consultation after hearing your concerns and wishes.
Skin boosters
What are skin boosters?
Skin boosters are injections of hyaluronic acid and ingredients that condition the skin, placed finely into the skin, aiming to improve firmness, glow and hydration. The expected effects and characteristics differ depending on the product used.
How are they different from hyaluronic acid filler?
Hyaluronic acid filler is mainly used to add volume or refine the contours of the face. Skin boosters, by contrast, aim to improve the texture, firmness and hydration of the skin itself.
What concerns are they recommended for?
They are recommended for people concerned about dry skin, lack of firmness or glow, uneven texture, fine lines and so on. The suitable treatment depends on your skin and the product used.
Which areas can be treated?
They may be used on the whole face, as well as the cheeks, around the eyes and mouth, and the neck. The suitable areas differ by product, so we advise you at the consultation.
When will I notice the effect?
It depends on the product, but after treatment you may gradually notice changes such as firmer, more hydrated skin. How the effect appears varies from person to person.
Will one session make a difference?
Some people notice a change after one session, but with some products, several sessions can make the effect easier to notice.
How many sessions are recommended?
The recommended number of sessions and intervals depend on the product, the condition of your skin and your aims. We suggest a suitable treatment plan at the consultation.
How long does the effect last?
It depends on the product, the amount injected, the condition of your skin and your constitution. We may suggest regular treatment to maintain the effect.
Does it hurt?
You may feel a small prick when injected and a sense of pressure during injection. The degree of pain varies from person to person.
Is there any downtime?
Redness, swelling, puffiness, bruising or pain may occur at the injection sites. Depending on the product and injection method, small bumps may temporarily be visible where it was injected. These usually become less noticeable with time.
How long do the small bumps take to go down?
It depends on the product, injection method and area, but the bumps that form straight after injection gradually settle. If you have an important event coming up, we recommend allowing plenty of time before it.
Can I wear make-up straight afterwards?
It depends on the product and injection method. We check the needle marks and your skin and advise you after treatment.
Can I take a bath or exercise on the day?
On the day of treatment please avoid long baths, saunas, strenuous exercise and heavy drinking. Increased blood flow can make swelling or bruising worse.
Can I have them on the same day as Botox or filler?
Depending on the areas and treatments, this may be possible on the same day. If you would like to combine treatments, please ask at the consultation.
Will skin boosters make my face look unnaturally puffy?
Unlike hyaluronic acid filler, skin boosters are not mainly intended to add a lot of volume. However, straight after treatment there may be temporary bumps or puffiness from the product.
Are there side effects or risks?
Redness, swelling, pain, puffiness, bruising, itching, lumps or unevenness between sides may occur. Rarely, injection treatments can cause infection, allergic reactions or disrupted blood flow. If you experience severe pain, a change in skin colour or any other symptom that concerns you, please contact us immediately.
I don’t know which skin booster is right for me.
Each skin booster has different ingredients and characteristics. We check your wishes — such as “I want firmer skin”, “dryness bothers me” or “I want to improve fine lines” — and the condition of your skin, and suggest a suitable product.
Ear piercing
Does ear piercing hurt?
You will feel a brief, sharp prick when the hole is made. Sensitivity to pain varies, but the procedure itself is over quickly.
How long should I keep the first earrings in?
You need to keep the first earrings in, without taking them out, for a period until the piercing hole has stabilised. The period depends on the area and its condition, so we explain this at the time of piercing.
Can I use my own earrings?
For hygiene and safety reasons, we use the clinic’s designated first earrings for piercing.
Can I take a bath on the day of piercing?
Showers are fine. Please keep the area clean and avoid rubbing it hard.
Might my ear swell after piercing?
Temporary redness, swelling or pain may occur. If you have severe swelling or pain, or discharge such as pus, please talk to us.
Can under-18s have their ears pierced?
Depending on age, parental consent may be required for minors. Please check before booking.
